We know the importance of visualizing data. As Computer Science Professor, Ben Schneiderman, put it, “Visualization gives you answers to questions you didn't know you had." By visualizing data, you can more easily identify trends and spot opportunities to improve your business performance. We've been hard at work improving the features that help you visualize your data so you can do just that.
Our latest feature updates include enhancements to the KPI and Accounts graphs, which remove zero figures from graphs to present a clearer view of your performance, and new display options for your Income vs Expenses graphs that empower you to identify trends and averages, as well as comparisons, for all graph views.
KPIs and Accounts: A Clearer View of Performance
We've enhanced the display for graphs found under Visualize -> KPIs and Accounts.
The improvement is simple yet powerful: zero figures are now automatically removed from your graphs over the period you select. This eliminates clutter and ensures your attention is focused only on accounts that have relevant activity.
How it works
If an account's value is zero for the entire selected time period, it will not appear on the graph. The moment that account shows a non-zero figure within the period, it will be included.
For example: If an account is zero from January to November but has a value of $100 in December, it will only appear on the graph if your selected period includes December.
This refinement provides a clearer, more truthful picture of your active accounts and performance indicators.
Income vs Expenses: Trend and Average Lines Unlocked
Understanding the direction and consistency of your profitability is crucial. For your Income vs Expense graphs (found under Visualize -> Profitability), we have introduced powerful new display options:
Trend and Average Lines: You now have the option to display trend lines and average lines on your Income vs Expenses graphs.
These lines are available for all graph views, including comparisons like "vs Prior" and "vs Prior LY," and even appear in the Magnify details available on hover.
Report Builder Integration: We’ve also integrated these new lines into the Report Builder. Any graphs included in your reports will now reflect these trend and average visualizations, allowing your stakeholders to instantly grasp the bigger picture.
Closing thoughts 💭
The latest features added to Visualize empower you to quickly identify overall performance trajectories and benchmark current performance against long-term averages. We hope that you'll make the most of these updates and use them to move from simply seeing your data to truly understanding it.
