Financial information is most useful when it is easy to understand and structured in a way that aids decision making. That's why we are continuously making improvements to our data visualizations. Our latest update is to one of our most beloved features - the Income vs Expenses graphs under Visualize. These new changes make it easier than ever for you to identify trends in your income and expenses, customize your graphs, and go from data to decisions.

Let's break down this latest update.

What's new 🧐

To get to the new graphs, navigate to Visualize > Profitability > Income vs Expenses. Once in this section, you will see that you can now visualize your income vs expenses as either a line graph or bar graph, with clear data labels that help you to identify the value of each point in your graph.

We've also streamlined some of the options you have. By clicking on "Graph data," you can choose:

  • How many periods to show (going up to 24 periods); and

  • Whether you'd like to filter for divisions.

Plus, when looking at your income or expense data with a weekly or daily view, you can make comparisons to prior periods to gauge how well your business is faring compared to last month or last week.

Note πŸ“: You can all graph types to Prior LY except for Income vs Expenses and Profit and Loss. The only periods that can be compared to vs Prior are Daily and Weekly.

Magnify the details πŸ”Ž

We've revamped our graphs to include powerful drill-down functionality akin to the Magnify feature you may be familiar with from Live View. Simply hover over a point on the graph to:

  • Magnify trends for the period;

  • Unlock the top transactions leading to the numbers you see; and

  • Pinpoint the top contacts impacting these accounts.

This feature gives you the chance to quickly identify the vital transaction-level details that are leading to upticks or downturns in your graphs, so that you know which accounts or customers to focus on.

Simplify color choices with color palettes 🎨

We've also introduced a simpler way for you to customize the coloring of your graphs. While you still have the ability to customize the color scheme to your heart's desire, if you'd rather save time on this decision, you can now pick colors from preset templates that our designers have already tested.

To change the color scheme of your graph, click on the teardrop icon. You can then choose between set themes or your own custom color scheme. If you select a theme, you can choose between:

  • Syft Classic

  • Summer Garden

  • Ocean

  • Beach Sunset

  • Dawn Dew

  • Spring

  • Mountain Mist

If you prefer full customization, you can select custom swatches and patterns.

Customize your viewing experience πŸ’ͺ

Last but not least, you have the ability to create a bespoke experience of your graphs, tailored to your exact needs. Simply navigate to the "Show" button to toggle on/off any of the following viewing options:

  • Graph insights: for Syft-generated analyses of your data;

  • Data labels: to indicate what different points in the graph represent; and

  • The graph key: a guide to what you are seeing in the graph.

Your data should be displayed in the way that you'd like to see it. So, take advantage of the "Show" menu and edit the presentation of your income and expenses graphs.

Closing thoughts πŸ’

With these updates, your Income vs Expenses graphs are more powerful, flexible, and insightful than ever before. Whether you want a quick visual overview or need to dig deep into the transactions driving your numbers, the new features make it easier to spot trends, compare periods, and customize your view in seconds. From smarter drill-downs to effortless color palettes, everything is designed to help you go from raw data to confident, informed decisions β€” faster and with greater clarity.
