"Data visualization is the language of decision making. Good charts effectively convey information. Great charts enable, inform, and improve decision making." - Dante Vitagliano, Founder of Trailmapper
If you've been using Syft for some time, I likely don't need to tell you how great Dashboards are. But as a refresher, they're one of our most popular features because they empower you to focus on critical business metrics in clear visual form. You can easily share them and even embed them on your website.
This week, Dashboards have gotten even better thanks to the ability to drill down into transaction level within the cards themselves. This means that the path from data to decisions has become clearer as you can more readily unpack exactly what each graph is telling you - and where that information comes from.
Let's have a look at exactly what this means.
Drill down activated β
When looking at a card in your dashboard, you can now click on a specific point in the card's graph to drill down into the transactions that make up that section of the graph.
So, say, for example, you are looking at a graph of your customer sales and notice a significant peak in the month of April; you can then click on that peak to uncover exactly what it is. This will then zero in on the month of April to show you the customer sales that created that peak. You could then identify the exact sales dates and amounts in the graph. This means you can easily determine the cause of any troughs or peaks in your graphs.
Coming soon π¨: You will be able to drill down to the transaction list in the daily view.
By drilling down into the details, you can better understand the causes of certain business outcomes and use this knowledge to improve these outcomes in the future.
To quote another expert, renowned computer scientist Ben A. Schneiderman says: "The purpose of visualization is insight, not pictures." And this is exactly what you stand to gain from the new drill-down function in Dashboards.
Note π: The drill-down view will only be active while you are on the Dashboard in question, either on Syft or in its shared form. It does not save for future views.
But wait; there's more!
AI on Dashboard cards β¨
We've been adding to our AI capabilities across Syft and the latest addition can be found in Dashboard cards. You'll see that at the bottom of each card, there's a little button that says "AI." If you click on this button, Syft Assist AI will generate insights into the specific data represented in the card in question.
You then have the option to copy this information using the clipboard icon if you would like to share it with clients, stakeholders, or other members of your team.
Note π: These insights work the same way as other AI insights and are limited to two free monthly credits per entity unless you upgrade.
Closing thoughts π
As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. What, then, of an interactive picture? Syft's new Dashboard gives you the power of a thousand words and then some, with the ability to dive into the nitty-gritty details underpinning every point in your graphs. The story your data has to tell has never been so easy to uncover. So, why not give it a go?
