Our beloved Review tool may look a little bit different from how it did the last time you logged into Syft, but don't worry! All your favorite tools are still there. We've just reorganized them so that your process of reviewing data will become more streamlined. Now, each tool in the Review add-on is categorized according to function. Read on to learn more.

New sidebar 🙌

The most noticeable change is to the Review sidebar. You'll see that it's now divided into the following sections:

  • Data Quality

  • Bank

  • Accounts

  • Contacts

  • Transactions

  • VAT/GST

  • Clarify

Let's break this down.

Data Quality 🧐

Data Quality provides a clear overview of your data health, with a second tab dedicated to your anomalies. These are set up as health scores with targets achieved and the ability to add new criteria to measure.

Bank 🏦

The Bank section empowers you to explore bank transactions, identify value and volume trends, and identify allocated transactions.

Pro tip 💡: If you use Xero as your underlying provider, you can view both unmatched and unreconciled transactions.

Accounts 📓

Accounts consists of all your account-related review tools, namely:

  • Duplicates - Potential duplicate accounts based on account name

  • Dormancies - Accounts that haven’t had a transaction in the past 3 months

  • Suspense accounts - Accounts that you've designated as suspense accounts

  • Inverse accounts - Credit balances that appear when debit balances are expected, and vice versa

  • Variances - Account movements and variances that deviate from expected values or volumes

Contacts 📞

Contacts contains similar data but based on contacts rather than accounts. So, here you can see:

  • Duplicate contacts based on contact name

  • Dormant contacts, i.e., contacts that haven't transacted with you in the past 3 months

  • Overdue receivables and negative customer balances

  • Multi-assigned contacts, i.e., contacts with transactions assigned to multiple accounts or multiple tax codes

Transactions 🧾

In the Transactions section, you can see the following:

  • Duplicates - duplicate transactions based on description and account

  • Classification - which is split into transaction anomalies, description anomalies, and value anomalies

  • Timing - which is divided into transactions outside of business hours, back-dated transactions, and future-dated transactions

  • Manual transactions - manual journals and credit notes

VAT/GST 💵

The VAT/GST section has remained pretty much the same, with the division between Review and Report. In Review, you can:

  • Investigate anomalies that may impact your VAT/GST submission

  • Examine transactions that have a different tax coding to their account's default tax code

  • Inspect transactions that have a zero tax coding in accounts where other transactions have a non-zero tax coding

Meanwhile, in the Report section, you can view reports across the following:

  • Account - income and expense tax by account

  • Code - input and output VAT/GST by tax codes

  • Source - input and output VAT/GST by source type

  • Currency - input and output VAT/GST by currency code (in your reporting currency)

  • Value - input and output VAT/GST by value buckets

  • Transaction - all your VAT/GST transactions in one place

Closing thoughts 💭

So, while the Review tool may look a tad different from your last visit to Syft, rest assured that all the tools you love are still available. We’ve simply restructured them to make your data review process more efficient. With each tool now categorized by function, you’ll find it easier than ever to navigate. I hope you will enjoy the improved experience!
