One of the features many users love about Syft is the ability to upload entities from different accounting providers and spreadsheets. Many of our customers use the transaction list import as an upload method. If you're one of them, you'll be glad to learn that we have significantly improved this process to optimize how transactions are stored and uploaded.
These changes will enhance performance and scalability and provide greater flexibility in managing your transactions. Read on for all the changes.
What's new 🧐
Key changes to transaction list entities include the following:
A new transaction upload method
New validation and balance rules
Let's look at each of these in turn.
1. New Transaction Upload Method
We’ve introduced two distinct upload modes for managing transactions, namely:
The create new transactions mode
The modify existing transactions mode
In the first mode, you can generate and populate a blank template using dropdown options or the “Transaction Builder” on the side panel. In this case, each entry in the upload creates a new transaction.
In the second mode, you will select a date range to retrieve a template of existing transactions within the given period. You can modify existing transactions by referencing their IDs in the upload sheet.
Note 📝: Only referenced items will be updated.
2. New validation and balance rules
Validation checks will remain consistent across both modes to ensure data integrity. Transactions must adhere to daily balance requirements, where debits and credits for each day must be equal. Balance checks apply when creating or modifying transactions to prevent discrepancies.
Why we love these updates 💙
We love these updates because how transactions are stored will provide faster processing times and more efficient handling of large volumes of transactions, which is great for scaling businesses.
Moreover, the new upload modes increase control over your transaction list, with tailored options for creating and updating transactions. So, if you're building entities from Excel or Google Sheets transaction lists, you're in for a treat.
