Syft's budgeting and forecasting experience has been improving over the past few months — more intuitive, more capable, and easier to use day to day. As part of that work, we'll eventually retire the legacy Budget and Forecast features and move everyone to the new experience.
If you haven't migrated yet, now's a good time to start. This guide walks you through what's changing, what's new, and what to do next.
What's changing
As of 1 September, you will no longer be able to create new budgets or forecasts in the legacy Budget and Forecast features.
Here's what will and won’t be affected:
Creating new budgets/forecasts in the legacy tool: will no longer be available
Accessing and using existing legacy budgets or forecasts: still available
Adding existing legacy budgets or forecast to reports: still available
Viewing existing legacy budgets or forecasts in existing report templates: still available
From now on, all new budgets and forecasts should be created in the new experience.
Everything the legacy tool did — now in the new experience
The new budgeting and forecasting experience already matches the legacy tool on the features you rely on day to day, including:
Import budgets or forecasts into Syft — bring your data in from Excel or Google Sheets rather than rebuilding from scratch
Build a forecast directly from an existing budget
Create a consolidated budget in builds
So moving over doesn't mean giving anything up.
What's new: Scenarios
For those on the Advanced plan, the new experience also introduces Scenarios — a way to plan for the "what-ifs" that the legacy tool never supported.
With Scenarios, you can:
Build multiple versions of a budget or forecast — a best case, a worst case, or anything in between — each made up of its own set of events layered on top of your baseline
Create as many scenarios as you need, duplicate them, and add or remove events at any time
Add a description to each scenario so it's clear what it represents
Compare scenarios side by side — view up to 10 scenarios at once on a single line or bar graph, over any date range, to see how each path plays out
For advisors and practices managing multiple clients, that means one consistent workflow instead of switching between old and new — plus a planning tool that goes further than what the legacy experience could offer.
🎉 Coming soon:
You will soon be able to add a total column to see your totals at a glance across your budget or forecast.
What to do now
No urgent action is required unless you're planning to create a new budget or forecast.
Already using the new experience? Carry on as normal — nothing changes for you.
Still using the legacy version? Start creating any new budgets or forecasts in the new experience from now on, so your team can get comfortable with the workflow ahead of the full transition.

Your existing legacy budgets and forecasts aren't going anywhere yet — this is about where you build going forward.
What happens next
This is an early heads-up, not the final word. As of 1 September, you will no longer be able to create new budgets or forecasts with the legacy tool. Further in the future, you will no longer be able to edit your existing budgets or forecasts – but we will give you a head’s up before that time comes.
Before any firm changes take place, we'll share:
What's changing
What actions you may need to take
How much time you'll have to prepare
The transition will be phased, with clear communication at each step.
