We often speak about how you can save a lot of time by automating reporting processes in Syft instead of building everything manually on Excel, especially when it comes to complex consolidations. But this doesn't mean we are anti-Excel – far from it! Excel is a powerful tool we use every day. While we don't think it's the most efficient report builder, combining it with Syft allows you to build something truly robust and customized. That's why we built the Spreadsheet Link add-on.

Today, we are excited to introduce a new feature to the Spreadsheet Link: the ability to export Dashboards from Syft to Excel so that you can customize your Dashboards even further.

How does this work? 🧐

First, log into Syft on Excel. Then, you can navigate to "Charts" at the top of your ribbon under Syft. If you click on the drop-down arrow next to charts, you can select "Daily Dashboard," and your Dashboard will be inserted into the spreadsheet.

You can then select the following information:

  • Your entity

  • The date you want to see

  • The relevant Dashboard.

The Dashboard will load and create tabular data structures down the left-hand side. The tabular data will then be used to create the Dashboard charts.

Note πŸ“: Image, Number, and Table cards are filtered out, so the Spreadsheet Link will only pull through the Dashboard cards that can be charted.

The Spreadsheet Link will also pull through the selected chart types and colors from your Syft Dashboard, so you don't need to worry about any of your selections being left behind.

Closing thoughts πŸ’

When it comes to finding the perfect software solution for your dashboarding needs, it's not an either-or situation. Just because you have Syft doesn't mean you need to say goodbye to faithful old Excel. Syft's latest update to the Spreadsheet Link means you can combine the tools you know and love to create the ultimate Dashboard to share with your team, clients, or stakeholders. Sound good to you? Why not give it a try?
